The fine balance
of nature and

Precision

Symmetry Orthodontics is a Specialist Orthodontic practice founded in 2010 by Dr Jamie Galbraith.

The practice philosophy is to share a quote from someone worth listening to; “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”. It was da Vinci who coined the phrase and the wisdom is true when knowledge of the physical nature of things (physics) and technical skills are deployed to their full potential. The outcomes are simple and predictable.

Orthodontic Treatment Options

Our clear aligner treatment consists of a series of nearly invisible, removable trays that you change every 10 days for the next set in the series. Each aligner is individually customised for your teeth, and your teeth only. As you replace each aligner for the next, your teeth will have moved – little by little, week by week – to allow the next tray to fit, until they have straightened to the final position prescribed. The great thing is they're removable, and the terrible thing is they are removable. Choose this method only if you have the discipline to wear them continuously 24/7 with minor exceptions to eat and clean your teeth.
At Symmetry Orthodontics, we believe in addressing dental growth and structural issues before they become more difficult, painful or costly problems. We encourage our clients to bring their children in early on (8yrs) so we can assess and get to work on corrective procedures if required sooner rather than later.

Conventional braces are devices used in orthodontics that align and straighten teeth. They help to position them with regard to a persons bite and smile while also working to improve dental health and hygiene.

They are used to correct malocclusions, an all encompassing term used to describe orthodontic problems such as overbites, cross bites, open bites, deep bites, crooked teeth, and various other flaws of the teeth and jaws. Braces can be metal or ceramic and the term includes the bracket, wire and auxiliaries placed on the brackets or wire.

Some presentations require both an orthodontic and surgical approach combined. Symmetry Orthodontics can advise in any instance where surgery is an option or a necessity to correct structural and alignment issues for an optimal orthodontic outcome. In these cases, we work in conjunction with the expertise of an experienced and trusted maxillofacial surgeon.

Symmetry Orthodontics is firstly a highly professional yet relaxed orthodontic practice.

Choose the Orthodontic Experts

Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry that can help you achieve a healthier smile. Its knowledge is complicated and subtle but has life long benefits to its recipients. Find out more about our service offering.

Orthodontics is a specialist branch of dentistry that straightens teeth to prevent and treat dentofacial irregularities.

An orthodontist is a specialist. They have completed a further 2-3 years of postgraduate full time education following 5 years of dental school, to acquire the knowledge and special skills required to manage tooth movement and guide facial development.

Orthodontic tooth movement can occur at any age. Many orthodontic problems are easier to correct if detected at an early age and intercepted before jaw growth has slowed. Early treatment may mean that a patient can avoid more complicated treatment later.

Orthodontic societies around the world therefore recommend that every child visit an orthodontist by age 7 or earlier if a problem is detected by parents, the family dentist or the child’s physician.
